The 30" x 36" DE (Diatomaceous Earth) Filter Element with Center Bottom Outlet (typically supplied as a 4-pack master carton) is a commercial-grade, rigid internal grid component designed for heavy-duty commercial pool and spa vertical DE filtration systems. It is commonly used in commercial multi-element filters manufactured by brands such as Hayward (Micro-Clear / Perflex commercial series), Pentair / Purex, Jacuzzi, and aftermarket manufacturers such as Filbur (FC-93xx series) and Pleatco.

These elements feature a high-impact polypropylene or PVC internal structural core wrapped in chemical- and rot-resistant woven polypropylene fabric. Diatomaceous earth cake evenly coats the cloth surface to filter debris down to 2–5 microns.

Installation & Inspection Guidelines

  1. Grid Inspection: Before sliding into the manifold, check the cloth seams and stitching for frays, tears, or stretching around the frame edges. Even a pinhole tear will allow DE powder to bypass directly back into the pool.

  2. Bottom Hub & O-Ring Check: Inspect the center bottom discharge port. Ensure the internal sealing O-ring or seating gasket is clean, lubricated with silicone-based pool lubricant (never petroleum jelly), and properly seated in the hub.

  3. Manifold Alignment: Seat each element into the lower distribution manifold or support base firmly to ensure an airtight seal. Secure the top retainer spacer bracket to prevent element flexing or chatter under backwash pressure.

  4. Pre-Coat Recharge: After reassembling the filter tank and venting air, immediately introduce the manufacturer-recommended quantity of fresh DE powder (typically ~1 lb of DE per 5–10 sq. ft. of filter area) through the skimmer with the pump running.
