The 30" x 60" DE (Diatomaceous Earth) Filter Element with Center Bottom Outlet (supplied in a 7-pack master carton) is an extra-large, commercial-grade vertical filtration grid designed for high-capacity municipal pools, water parks, institutional aquatic facilities, and heavy-duty commercial DE pressure vessels. It is primarily specified in large commercial tank models manufactured by brands like Hayward, Pentair / Purex, Jacuzzi, and commercial grid specialists like Filbur and Pleatco.

These extended 5-foot-wide panels feature a rigid polymer support grid covered in chemical- and rot-resistant woven polypropylene/polyester fabric. A 7-grid configuration is the standard complement designed to fill large cylindrical filter tanks equipped with a central lower hub collector.

Installation & Inspection Guidelines

  1. Inspect Seams and Stitching: Examine the outer edge seams and stitching on all 7 panels before placement. Because of the broad 60" span, fabric stress can lead to micro-tears or puckering; even a small split will vent DE powder back through the pool returns.

  2. Bottom Hub Seating & Lubrication: Clean out dried DE accumulation from the tank’s lower collector manifold. Lubricate the internal sealing O-rings or sleeve gaskets on each element's center bottom outlet using a silicone-based pool lubricant (never petroleum jelly).

  3. Cluster Spacing & Manifold Alignment: Seat each element firmly into its respective lower hub receptacle. Ensure the top spacer rack and tie-rod assemblies are evenly tightened across all 7 panels to prevent the broad 60-inch frames from flexing or rubbing under high differential pressure during pump cycles.

  4. DE Pre-Coat Recharging: After reassembling the vessel clamp and bleeding all air through the high-point air relief valve, recharge the filter through the commercial surge pit or skimmer system with approximately 17.5 to 22 lbs of fresh DE powder (~1 lb per 8–10 sq. ft. of filter surface) while the main circulation pump runs at full operating flow.
