The Accu-Tab PowerBase 1030 Tablet Chlorination System w/ 1.0 HP Hayward Booster Pump (CSA Certified) is a commercial-grade, pressure-side erosion feeder engineered by Westlake Water Solutions (Axiall/PPG) for automated calcium hypochlorite ($Ca(OCl)_2$) sanitization.

Configured with an integrated solution mixing tank, dual level-switch safety interlocks, and a 1.0 HP centrifugal booster pump, the PowerBase 1030 delivers controlled, on-demand chlorination without the bulk chemical storage footprint, vapor off-gassing, or peristaltic tube fatigue common to liquid bleach (sodium hypochlorite) systems. It interfaces directly with Pool Link 500/1000 Series ORP/PPM controllers via a dedicated 120V switched controller trigger.

Operating Principle & Controlled Erosion Dynamics

  • Controlled Bottom-Layer Erosion: Tablets sit stacked inside the upper hopper directly over an engineered sieve plate. Pressurized side-stream water contacts only the bottom layer of tablets, while the dry tablets above remain isolated from water contact. This prevents tablet saturation, uneven crumbling, and chemical spiking.

  • Gravity Solution Tank & Float Assembly: Dissolved hypochlorite solution drains through the sieve plate into an integrated lower solution holding tank. An internal mechanical float valve continuously regulates incoming water volume to maintain the correct solution bath level.

  • Dedicated High-Head Booster Injection: The close-coupled 1.0 HP Hayward centrifugal booster pump draws concentrated chlorine solution from the solution tank and injects it downstream into the primary pool filtration return line against prevailing system filter pressure.

  • Integrated Overflow & Run-Dry Interlocks: Equipped with high- and low-level float switches inside the solution reservoir wired to an internal relay contactor. If the tank water exceeds the safe operating threshold or drainage drops below the pump suction port, the controller automatically cycles the booster pump and cuts power to protect against basement/pad flooding and pump seal burnout.

Technical Specifications

    • Indoor Aquatic Centers: Pools up to 360,000 US Gallons (approx. 1,362,000 L).

    • Outdoor Stabilized Pools (15+ ppm CYA): Pools up to 140,000 US Gallons (approx. 530,000 L).

    • Outdoor Unstabilized Pools: Pools up to 60,000 US Gallons (approx. 227,000 L).

  • Booster Pump Specification: 1.0 HP Hayward Centrifugal Pump (PAPP100 series / commercial closed-impeller build).

  • Hydraulic Connections:

    • Inlet (Water Supply): 1" PVC Slip / Socket (max supply pressure: 20 PSI via included or upstream regulator).

    • Outlet (Discharge/Injection): 1" PVC Slip / Socket with included union check valve and manual throttling gate valve.

  • Electrical Service & Approvals:

    • Main Power Supply: 120V AC, 60 Hz, 1-Phase, 20 Amp dedicated circuit (powers 1 HP booster pump).

    • Control Circuit: 120V AC, 1 Amp (interfaced directly to Pool Link chlorine feed dry/powered relay).

    • Compliance Certifications: CSA Certified, NSF/ANSI Standard 50 commercial listed.

  • Footprint Dimensions: 27.5" W × 19.5" D × 36.7" H (approx. 70 cm W × 50 cm D × 93 cm H, inclusive of external piping).

Consumable Tablet Specification

  • Approved Chemical: Accu-Tab Blue SI 3-1/8" Calcium Hypochlorite Tablets (68% nominal $Ca(OCl)_2$, 65% minimum available chlorine).

  • Proprietary Scale Inhibitor (SI): Formulated with an integral polyphosphate-based scale inhibitor designed specifically to prevent calcium carbonate ($CaCO_3$) scale buildup inside the erosion grid, check valves, and pump wet-end components.

  • Chemical Safety Restriction: Do NOT mix chemical formulations. Only engineered calcium hypochlorite tablets may be loaded into the 1030 hopper; loading trichlor, dichlor, or organic stabilized pucks will cause severe exothermic gas release, fire, or chamber explosion.

  1. Inlet Pressure Regulation: Operating water pressure feeding the inlet float valve must not exceed 20 PSI. If taken directly off a high-head filter effluent line, install a dedicated pressure-reducing valve (PRV) set to 15–18 PSI to prevent float chatter and reservoir overflow.

  2. True Union Check Valve Orientation: Always install the included heavy-duty spring-loaded swing check valve directly onto the 1.0 HP booster pump discharge line before tying into the return loop to prevent chlorinated pool main water from back-filling the solution tank when the pump shuts off.

  3. Pool Link Integration: Wire the 1030 electrical control pigtail to the Pool Link 500/1000's primary Chlorine / ORP feed relay. Configure the controller for proportional pulse-feed or set an interlocked high-feed timer limit (e.g., max continuous run 15–20 minutes) to prevent accidental chlorination runaway during filter backwash cycles.
