The Accu-Tab PowerBase 3070 Tablet Chlorination System w/ 1.5 HP Hayward Booster Pump (CSA Certified) is a high-capacity, commercial-grade calcium hypochlorite ($Ca(OCl)_2$) erosion feeder engineered by Westlake Water Solutions (Axiall/PPG) for high-load commercial aquatic centers, municipal waterparks, surf lagoons, and multi-pool complexes.
Configured with a 70 lb dry-tablet hopper, an integrated dual-float chemical solution reservoir, and a dedicated 1.5 HP Hayward centrifugal booster pump, the 3070 system provides over double the tablet capacity and chemical delivery volume of the smaller 1030 unit. It automates high-volume sanitization while avoiding the bulk storage footprint, product degradation, and severe off-gassing issues associated with commercial liquid sodium hypochlorite bulk tanks.
Operating Principle & Controlled Erosion Dynamics
-
Controlled Bottom-Layer Erosion: Dry 3-1/8" Accu-Tab tablets are supported inside the hopper above an engineered, multi-port erosion sieve plate. Water delivered by the inlet float assembly contacts only the bottom layer of tablets. The bulk dry tablet column above remains completely isolated from moisture, eliminating tablet mushing, wicking, bridging, and chemical concentration spikes.
-
Dual-Chamber Solution Mixing Basin: Dissolved calcium hypochlorite drains by gravity through the sieve grid directly into an integrated high-density polyethylene solution holding tank equipped with internal baffles to ensure consistent solution concentration.
-
1.5 HP Centrifugal Booster Injection: A high-head 1.5 HP Hayward commercial centrifugal pump draws concentrated chlorine solution from the holding reservoir and injects it downstream into high-flow filtration return loops against elevated line pressures up to 40+ PSI.
-
Integrated Safety & Float Interlocks: Equipped with redundant high-level and low-level magnetic reed float switches wired to an internal motor contactor. The system cuts power to the booster pump on low solution level (preventing dry-run seal damage) and isolates the water inlet on high level (preventing mechanical room flooding).

Consumable Tablet Specification
-
Specified Chemistry: Accu-Tab Blue SI 3-1/8" Calcium Hypochlorite Tablets (68% nominal $Ca(OCl)_2$, 65% minimum available chlorine).
-
Scale Inhibitor Chemistry (SI): Pre-blended with a proprietary polyphosphate scale-inhibiting matrix designed to sequester calcium ions directly at the dissolution interface, preventing calcium carbonate ($CaCO_3$) scaling inside the sieve plate, piping, check valves, and pump impeller.
-
Critical Chemical Precaution: Never load trichlor, dichlor, calcium chloride, or organic stabilized tablets into the 3070 hopper. Mixing chemical types will trigger rapid exothermic decomposition, violent gas generation, and catastrophic explosion risk.

-
Supply Water Source: Tap supply water downstream of pool filtration media (clean water) but upstream of any acid injection ports or heaters.
-
Backpressure Sizing: The 1.5 HP booster produces significant discharge head; ensure discharge injection quills enter the center of the recirculating main pipe and are rated for full loop hydraulic pressure.
-
Pool Link Control Setup: Connect the 3070 control pigtail to the Pool Link 500/1000 primary sanitizer feed circuit. Set the controller's feed safety interlock timer to a 20-minute maximum run limit to protect against ORP probe lag or sample flow interruption.
