The Accu-Tab PowerBase 3140 Tablet Chlorination System w/ 1.5 HP Hayward Booster Pump (CSA Certified) is an extra-high-capacity, commercial-grade calcium hypochlorite ($Ca(OCl)_2$) erosion feeder engineered by Westlake Water Solutions (Axiall/PPG) for heavy-demand municipal aquatic complexes, major waterparks, wave pools, competition natatoriums, and resort surf lagoons.
Featuring an expanded 140 lb dry-tablet hopper (double the hopper volume of the 3070 series), an integrated dual-float chemical solution reservoir, and a dedicated 1.5 HP Hayward commercial centrifugal booster pump, the 3140 is built to deliver extended autonomy between tablet refills under severe bather loads. It eliminates bulk liquid bleach storage footprints, tank off-gassing, and chemical degrading while integrating seamlessly with Pool Link 500/1000 Series ORP and Free Chlorine controllers.
Operating Principle & Controlled Erosion Dynamics
-
Controlled Bottom-Layer Erosion: Dry 3-1/8" Accu-Tab tablets stack inside the 140 lb hopper above an engineered, multi-port erosion sieve plate grid. Pressurized water delivered through the inlet float system contacts only the bottom layer of tablets, leaving the bulk column of dry tablets suspended above completely dry. This design prevents tablet wicking, softening, mushing, and erratic chemical spikes.
-
Large-Capacity Solution Holding Basin: Dissolved calcium hypochlorite drains by gravity through the sieve grid directly into an integrated high-density polyethylene solution holding reservoir engineered with internal baffling to maintain uniform solution concentration.
-
High-Head 1.5 HP Centrifugal Booster Injection: A heavy-duty 1.5 HP Hayward commercial centrifugal pump draws concentrated chlorine solution from the lower reservoir and injects it directly into high-pressure pool recirculation return lines against line pressures up to 40+ PSI.
-
Redundant Safety Float Interlocks: Equipped with factory-wired high-level and low-level magnetic reed float switches connected to an internal motor contactor. The system automatically cuts power to the booster pump on low liquid level (preventing dry-run seal burnout) and shuts off incoming water on high level (preventing mechanical room flooding).

Consumable Tablet Specification
-
Specified Chemistry: Accu-Tab Blue SI 3-1/8" Calcium Hypochlorite Tablets (68% nominal $Ca(OCl)_2$, 65% minimum available chlorine).
-
Scale Inhibitor Chemistry (SI): Pre-formulated with a proprietary polyphosphate scale inhibitor that acts directly at the dissolution interface, preventing calcium carbonate ($CaCO_3$) scale formation on the sieve plate, discharge check valves, and pump impeller.
-
Critical Chemical Safety Mandate: Never mix chemical types. Loading trichlor, dichlor, calcium chloride, or organic stabilized pucks into the 3140 hopper will trigger rapid exothermic decomposition, toxic gas generation, and severe explosion risk.

-
Clean Water Supply Line: Supply water must be tapped downstream of the pool filtration filters (to prevent debris clogging the internal sieve plate or float valve) and upstream of any pool heaters or acid injection points.
-
Discharge Backpressure Management: The 1.5 HP booster generates high dynamic head; plumb the discharge line into the center stream of the return main with an industrial chemical injection quill to ensure immediate dilution.
-
Pool Link Control Setup: Interlock the 3140 120V trigger to the primary Chlorine/ORP relay on the Pool Link 500/1000 controller. Set a controller feed-limit safety timer (typically 15 to 20 minutes) to prevent accidental continuous chemical feed in the event of an external sample stream or probe fault.
