The Accu-Tab PowerBase 3500 Tablet Chlorination System w/ 1.5 HP Hayward Booster Pump (CSA Certified) is the flagship high-capacity, commercial-grade calcium hypochlorite ($Ca(OCl)_2$) erosion feeder manufactured by Westlake Water Solutions (Axiall/PPG).
Engineered for massive aquatic applications—including Olympic competition complexes, high-volume outdoor waterparks, large surf lagoons, and municipal potable water or wastewater treatment plants—the 3500 system features a massive 500 lb dry-tablet hopper, an oversized internal solution mixing basin, and a heavy-duty 1.5 HP Hayward commercial centrifugal booster pump. It is designed to handle extreme chlorine demand while minimizing operator handling and refill frequency.
Operating Principle & Controlled Erosion Dynamics
-
Controlled Bottom-Layer Erosion Technology: Despite housing up to 500 lbs of dry chemical, only the lowest layer of 3-1/8" Accu-Tab tablets contacts the side-stream dissolution water flowing over the sieve plate. The dry tablet column above remains isolated from moisture and humidity, preventing wicking, softening, bridging, or chemical concentration spikes.
-
Continuous Heavy-Duty Solution Basin: Gravity directs dissolved calcium hypochlorite solution through the erosion grid into an integrated, heavy-duty polyethylene reservoir. Internal baffling promotes uniform dissolution concentration across high-throughput delivery cycles.
-
1.5 HP Commercial Booster Injection: The close-coupled 1.5 HP Hayward centrifugal pump draws concentrated chlorine solution from the holding reservoir and delivers it directly into high-pressure, high-volume pool recirculation mains against line pressures exceeding 40 PSI.
-
Failsafe Mechanical & Electrical Interlocks: Equipped with factory-integrated high- and low-level magnetic reed float switches wired to an internal motor contactor. The system cuts pump operation on low solution level (preventing dry-run seal burnout) and isolates incoming water on high level (preventing overflow).
Technical Specifications
-
Tablet Storage Capacity: 500 lbs (226.8 kg) dry tablet hopper capacity.

-
Outdoor Waterparks, Wave Pools & Surf Lagoons: Pools up to 600,000 to 800,000 US Gallons (approx. 2,270,000 to 3,028,000 L) under peak summer bather loads.
-
-
Booster Pump Specification: 1.5 HP Hayward Centrifugal Pump (commercial closed-impeller wet end, NEMA 56J face motor).
-
Hydraulic Connections:

-
External Controller Trigger: 120V AC switched feed signal from Pool Link 500/1000 Series ORP / Free Chlorine relays.
-
Certifications: CSA Certified, NSF/ANSI Standard 50 commercial listed.
-
-
Overall Footprint Dimensions: Approximately 42.0" W × 36.0" D × 66.0" H (approx. 106.7 cm W × 91.4 cm D × 167.6 cm H).
Consumable Tablet Specification
-
Specified Chemistry: Accu-Tab Blue SI 3-1/8" Calcium Hypochlorite Tablets (68% nominal $Ca(OCl)_2$, 65% minimum available chlorine).
-
Scale Inhibitor Chemistry (SI): Formulated with a proprietary polyphosphate scale inhibitor that sequesters calcium directly at the dissolution boundary layer, preventing calcium carbonate ($CaCO_3$) scale formation on the sieve grid, discharge check valves, and pump impeller.
-
Critical Chemical Safety Mandate: Never mix chemicals. Loading trichlor, dichlor, calcium chloride, or organic stabilized pucks into the 3500 hopper will trigger rapid exothermic decomposition, toxic gas generation, and severe explosion risk.

-
Clean Water Supply Line: Supply water must be tapped downstream of the pool filtration filters (to prevent debris clogging the internal sieve plate or float valve) and upstream of any pool heaters or acid injection points.
-
Discharge Backpressure Management: The 1.5 HP booster produces significant dynamic head; plumb the discharge line into the center stream of the return main with an industrial chemical injection quill to ensure immediate dilution.
-
Pool Link Control Setup: Interlock the 3500 120V trigger to the primary Chlorine/ORP relay on the Pool Link 500/1000 controller. Set a controller feed-limit safety timer (typically 15 to 20 minutes) to prevent accidental continuous chemical feed in the event of an external sample stream or probe fault.
