The Spectrum Aquatics ADA Easy Stair, 7-Step (58" to 67") (Part #20170 series / #20170-00) is the extended-reach model within Spectrum’s self-adjusting commercial pool access stair line. Engineered for deeper aquatic floor configurations, it provides safe ambulatory accessibility for competitive, recreation, and multi-purpose pools where shallow ends transition quickly into mid-depth water or where deck-to-floor profiles exceed standard step lengths.
Functional Overview & Engineering
Utilizing an articulating parallelogram stringer chassis, the 7-step assembly compensates for deeper deck-to-basin drops without requiring custom masonry retrofits:
-
Configurable Depth Range: Designed to span deep floor elevations measuring 58 inches to 67 inches (measured vertically from the deck surface to the pool floor).
-
Self-Leveling Geometry: The synchronized linkage frame pivots to conform to the precise angle of the pool floor, ensuring all 7 step treads self-level horizontally while maintaining equal riser heights in full compliance with ADA guidelines.
-
Continuous Bilateral Handrails: Integrated smooth 1.50" or 1.90" OD stainless steel grab rails run continuously along both sides, extending beyond the pool coping onto the deck to provide an uninterrupted grip for users during water transitions.
-
Flow-Through Non-Slip Treads: Molded heavy-duty polymer or passivated stainless treads feature aggressive diamond/grooved texturing for traction under wet conditions, with open drainage slots to counteract buoyancy and reduce water resistance during placement or removal.
-
Basin Floor Protection: Fitted with heavy-duty, chemical-resistant, non-marring rubber/polyurethane foot pads to distribute load stresses and safeguard gunite, plaster, tile, vinyl, or fiberglass finishes.
Structural Metallurgy & Materials
-
Standard Frame: Electropolished 304L stainless steel treated with factory-applied Spectra Shield® passivation for routine commercial outdoor and indoor pools.
-
Optional 316L Marine Upgrade: Marine-grade 316L stainless steel configuration offering elevated molybdenum content to resist chloride pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in enclosed natatoriums or saline pool environments.
-
Deck Mounting & Removal: Mounts via quick-disconnect deck anchor brackets or drop-in 1.90" ID bronze deck sleeves, enabling seasonal removal, deck clearance for swim competitions, or automated floor vacuuming.
