DE, Large Hold Down - Complete

The DE Large Hold-Down Assembly (Complete) (often cataloged across commercial and heavy-duty DE lines by manufacturers such as Hayward, Pentair / Pac-Fab / Purex, Jacuzzi, and commercial equivalents like Filbur) is the upper structural retainer and stabilizer harness designed to lock large commercial DE grid clusters firmly in position.

In high-capacity vertical DE filters (such as those using 30" and 48" high elements), water enters under pressure and forces upward across the elements. The hold-down assembly spans the top of the grid cluster, distributing uniform mechanical downward pressure via central tie rods or perimeter clamp rods. This prevents the elements from lifting off the bottom manifold, rocking, or breaking their lower O-ring seals during pump startup, high differential pressure, and backwashing cycles.
