The DE Filter Element Replacement Gaskets for 30" x 36", 38" x 48", and 30" x 60" grids are specialized elastomeric seals designed to seat commercial and large-format Diatomaceous Earth filter elements into their distribution manifolds and collector hubs.
In vertical commercial DE filters (such as those by Hayward, Pentair/Purex, Jacuzzi, and commercial fabricators), the bottom or top outlet hubs rely on compression gaskets to isolate the raw, unfiltered pool water from the clean effluent line. A degraded, flattened, or missing gasket allows diatomaceous earth powder and trapped particulates to bypass the cloth envelope and blow directly back into the pool.
Component Specifications by Element Size
| Element Dimension | Typical Outlet Location | Gasket Profile & Type | Material | Function & Seating Location |
| 30" x 36" | Center Bottom, Double Top, or Top Corner | Molded compression collar / flat sleeve ring (approx. 1-1/2" to 2" ID) | EPDM or Nitrile (Buna-N) | Seals the molded hub neck into the lower collector port or upper bridge runner. |
| 38" x 48" | Dual Bottom or Dual Top Hub | Dual-port flanged compression O-rings / stepped flange gaskets | Chemical-resistant EPDM | Provides dual-port compression between the split header and the distribution bridge. |
| 30" x 60" | Center Bottom or Dual Top Outlet | Heavy-duty large-bore compression ring / ribbed sleeve seal | High-tensile EPDM / Viton | Absorbs high hydraulic thrust and dynamic vibration across the 5-foot element span. |
Key Material & Operating Properties
-
Chemical Resistance: Formulated from chlorine-, chloramine-, and acid-resistant elastomers designed to withstand periodic muriatic acid bath washdowns and high sanitizer concentrations without turning brittle or swelling.
-
Durometer Rating: Typically 60–70 Shore A durometer to provide enough resilience to conform to minor imperfections in aging PVC/Noryl manifold sockets while maintaining rigidity under system pressures up to 50 PSI.
-
Temperature Stability: Rated from 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C) for indoor commercial and outdoor aquatic facilities.
