The 1-Metre Duradive Dive Platform (Duraflex 1-Metre Diving Stand / Platform Structure) is a heavy-duty commercial aquatic foundation engineered specifically to support standard 14-foot and 16-foot competitive aluminum springboards (such as the Duraflex International or Maxiflex Model B). Manufactured from structural aircraft-grade aluminum extrusions with stainless steel hardware, it serves as the competition and training standard across NCAA, USA Diving, and World Aquatics (formerly FINA) sanctioned facilities.
Structural Framework & Material Composition
-
Extruded Aluminum Ladder Structure: Built from high-strength aluminum alloy castings and heavy-gauge structural extrusions treated with an anodized chemical finish to resist chloramines, chlorine vapors, and high-humidity indoor natatorium atmospheres.
-
Fulcrum Channel Assembly: Features an integrated slide track designed to accept the Duraflex Roller Fulcrum Assembly, incorporating a calibrated handwheel and tie-plate mechanism that allows divers to dial in mechanical leverage and board flex.
-
Anchor Base & Deck Plates: Fastened to the pool deck using heavy-duty cast bronze or 316 stainless steel anchor footings embedded into structural reinforced concrete. The anchor design provides rigid lateral stability to eliminate sway during approach and hurdle steps.
-
Handrails & Safety Guards: 1.90" OD structural 316L stainless steel safety handrails flanking both sides of the ladder and extending forward alongside the fulcrum base to prevent falls from the rear and ladder approach.
Dimensional & Safety Regulations (World Aquatics / USA Diving Standard)
-
Platform Elevation ($H$): 1.00 metre (3 ft 3-3/8 in) from the operational water surface level to the top surface of the springboard.
-
Minimum Water Depth Envelope:
-
Plummet Line Depth: Minimum 3.40 to 3.50 metres (11 ft 2 in to 11 ft 6 in) directly below the front tip of the board.
-
Safety Envelope Forward Distance: Deep-water pool floor must maintain minimum plummet depth for at least 5.00 metres (16 ft 5 in) forward from the board tip before sloping upward.
-
-
Board Overhang: Minimum 1.50 metres (4 ft 11 in) overhang extending past the coping/pool wall line into the dive well.
-
Side Clearances:
-
Minimum 2.50 metres (8 ft 2 in) from the board center line to adjacent side pool walls.
-
Minimum 2.40 to 2.50 metres (7 ft 10 in to 8 ft 2 in) center-to-center spacing between parallel diving stands.
-
-
Overhead Clearance: Minimum unobstructed ceiling height of 5.00 metres (16 ft 5 in) measured above the full springboard surface.
Springboard & Fulcrum Interface
-
Compatible Boards:
-
16-Foot Maxiflex Model B (Cheeseboard): The primary competition standard, tapered at the tip for maximum lift.
-
16-Foot / 14-Foot Duraflex Standard Board: Rigid, untapered aluminum board used primarily for recreational facilities and introductory dive training.
-
-
Heel-End Attachment: Two 316 stainless steel mounting bolts secure the rear hinge assembly of the springboard to the stand's rear cross-member, utilizing rubber vibration-damping pads to isolate impact stress from the concrete deck.
-
Fulcrum Gear Assembly: The roller fulcrum travels along a geared rack on the main side beams, providing 8 to 10 distinct fulcrum positions adjustable under foot via an eccentric dial.
