The 1-Metre FlexDive Dive Platform (1-Metre Flexible Springboard Stand / Platform Structure) is a heavy-duty commercial aquatic diving apparatus engineered to mount standard 14-foot and 16-foot competitive aluminum springboards (such as Duraflex and Maxiflex Model B). Designed for municipal aquatic centres, high school competition facilities, and YMCA/community dive wells, the FlexDive platform integrates a low-profile ladder or step-up structure with a mechanical roller-fulcrum channel to provide standard competition board flex, spring elevation, and lateral stability.
Structural Framework & Material Composition
-
Support Framework: Fabricated from structural 304 or marine-grade 316L stainless steel tubing (typically 1.90" to 2.375" OD heavy-gauge pipe) or high-tensile cast/extruded anodized aluminum alloy beams.
-
Corrosion Resistance: Electropolished or powder-coated with a chemical-resistant polyurethane/epoxy finish to withstand indoor natatorium chloramines and outdoor pool UV degradation.
-
Integrated Step/Ladder Assembly: Features 2 to 3 wide, slip-resistant polymer or stainless steel treads equipped with continuous safety handrails flanking both sides for safe user ingress and egress.
-
Roller Fulcrum Track: Heavy-duty parallel side-rails accommodate an adjustable mechanical roller fulcrum, allowing divers to adjust spring stiffness and takeoff timing along an indexed scale.
-
Deck Mounting & Footings: Bolted directly to reinforced concrete pool decks using heavy-duty bronze or 316 stainless steel wedge/adhesive anchor studs (minimum 1/2" to 5/8" diameter) to absorb cyclic dynamic loads during hurdle landings.
Dimensional & Safety Regulations (World Aquatics / USA Diving / NFHS)
-
Plummet Height ($H$): 1.00 metre (3 ft 3-3/8 in) measured from the operational pool water surface to the top face of the springboard at rest.
-
Water Depth Envelope:
-
Plummet Depth: Minimum 3.40 to 3.50 metres (11 ft 2 in to 11 ft 6 in) directly below the tip of the diving board.
-
Safety Envelope Length: Deep-water floor depth must extend forward a minimum of 5.00 metres (16 ft 5 in) past the plummet point before transitioning upward.
-
-
Board Overhang: Minimum 1.50 metres (4 ft 11 in) extending beyond the pool wall/coping face into the dive envelope.
-
Clearance Requirements:
-
Center line of the springboard to the side pool wall: Minimum 2.50 metres (8 ft 2 in).
-
Center-to-center spacing to an adjacent 1-metre or 3-metre stand: Minimum 2.40 to 2.50 metres (7 ft 10 in to 8 ft 2 in).
-
Overhead unobstructed ceiling height: Minimum 5.00 metres (16 ft 5 in) directly above the springboard.
-
Springboard & Fulcrum Interface
-
Supported Boards: 16-foot Maxiflex Model B, 16-foot Duraflex International, or 14-foot recreational aluminum/fiberglass springboards.
-
Rear Butt-Plate Hinge: Heavy-duty rubber-cushioned hinge blocks dampen harmonic deck shock, anchoring the rear end of the board with two grade 316 stainless steel hinge bolts.
-
Fulcrum Adjustment: Mechanical indexing wheel or foot-roller allows smooth travel across 8 to 10 calibrated adjustment slots, adjusting mechanical fulcrum distance to diver body weight.
