The Link Automation pH Probe with BNC Connector Cable (Pool Link / Link Automation) is a heavy-duty, commercial-grade combination electrode engineered for automated commercial pool, spa, and water treatment chemistry controllers. Designed to measure hydronium ion activity ($H^+$) in recirculating water, it translates chemical balance into a millivolt ($mV$) potential transmitted directly to the controller console via a shielded, low-noise coaxial cable terminated with a moisture-resistant BNC connection.

Hardware & Analytical Architecture

Built to withstand continuous exposure to chlorinated water, variable bather loads, and broad pH swings:

  • Combination Measurement System: Integrates the measuring glass electrode and reference half-cell into a single, compact body. The inner reference cell uses a silver/silver chloride ($Ag/AgCl$) half-cell suspended in a saturated gelled electrolyte.

  • Porous Liquid Junction: Features a porous Teflon or ceramic annular liquid junction that provides low electrical resistance while minimizing electrolyte fouling, chemical poisoning, and clogging from suspended solids or calcium scaling.

  • Shielded Coaxial Cabling: Encased in heavy-gauge, low-noise shielded coaxial cable designed to reject electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI) generated by nearby variable-frequency drives (VFDs), commercial pump motors, and chemical feed solenoids.

  • Corrosion-Proof BNC Connector: Terminated with a nickel-plated or gold-flashed BNC plug featuring an integrated rubber/silicone moisture boot to prevent moisture creep and terminal corrosion in humid chemical rooms.

  • Protective Storage Boot: Ships pre-hydrated in a threaded or slip-on wetting boot filled with a 3.8 M or 4.0 M potassium chloride ($KCl$) storage buffer to keep the glass membrane and junction hydrated prior to installation.

Technical Specifications

  • Measurement Range: 0.00 to 14.00 pH.

  • Calibration Compatibility: Compatible with standard 2-point buffer calibrations (pH 7.00 zero reference, pH 4.00 or 10.00 span slope).

  • Slope Efficiency: Typically $95\%$ to $105\%$ (approx. $54$ to $59\text{ mV}$ per pH unit at 25°C).

  • Response Time: Reaches $95\%$ of final reading within 3 to 10 seconds in active bypass flow.

  • Cable Length: Standard 10-foot (approx. 3.0 m) lead (optional 20-foot or 30-foot variants for remote panel mounts).

  • Operating Temperature Range: 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C).

  • Maximum Operating Pressure: 50 PSI (approx. 3.45 bar) when seated in a compatible acrylic flow cell.

  • Process Connection: 1/2" NPT or 3/4" NPT threaded body / compression collar gland mount (compatible with Pool Link 500 Series, Legacy chambers, and Hayward/CAT flow manifolds).

Handling & Storage Protocols

  • Hydration Requirement: Never allow the probe tip to dry out. If stored out of the flow stream, always reseal inside the storage boot filled with 4.0 M KCl buffer (or pH 7.00 buffer in emergencies). Never store in deionized or distilled water, which leaches the reference electrolyte.

  • Cleaning Procedure: Mineral scaling or calcium deposits should be removed by soaking the tip in a dilute acid solution (5% to 10% hydrochloric acid or standard household vinegar) for 5 to 10 minutes, followed by a thorough rinse with clean tap water.
