The Link Automation pH Probe with CONX Connector Cable (Pool Link / Link Automation) is a heavy-duty, commercial-grade combination electrode engineered for automated commercial pool, spa, and aquatic chemistry controllers requiring a sealed, quick-disconnect circular connector. Designed to replace conventional twist-on BNC plugs in high-humidity or corrosive equipment rooms, the CONX (circular sealed industrial connector) variant provides an IP67/NEMA 6P rated, water-tight physical seal directly at the controller enclosure bulkhead or in-line cable junction, completely preventing moisture-induced signal degradation and pin oxidation.

Hardware & Analytical Architecture

Engineered to maintain precision millivolt signal fidelity in aggressive commercial pump room atmospheres:

  • CONX Sealed Pin Interface: Terminated with a molded, multi-pin, circular locking industrial connector featuring internal silicone/nitrile O-rings and a threaded or bayonet locking collar. This configuration prevents acid vapor, chloramine gas, and washdown spray from contacting the pins, eliminating high-resistance contact faults common to exposed BNC junctions.

  • Combination Sensing Element: Houses both the glass measuring electrode and the reference half-cell in a single, high-durability polymer or glass housing. The reference chamber utilizes a gelled silver/silver chloride ($Ag/AgCl$) electrolyte system that requires no ongoing replenishment or pressurization.

  • Porous Liquid Junction: Features a porous Teflon or ceramic annular junction designed to resist fouling from suspended bather oils, organic films, and calcium carbonate scaling while maintaining low electrical junction resistance.

  • Double-Shielded Coaxial Lead: Heavy-gauge, low-noise shielded coaxial cable designed to suppress electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) induced by variable-frequency drives (VFDs), commercial pump motors, and chemical feed solenoids.

  • Pre-Hydrated Wetting Cap: Ships fitted with a liquid-tight storage boot filled with 3.8 M or 4.0 M potassium chloride ($KCl$) reference storage buffer to preserve the glass hydration layer and reference junction during transit and storage.

Technical Specifications

  • Measurement Range: 0.00 to 14.00 pH.

  • Calibration Compatibility: Compatible with standard 2-point buffer calibrations (pH 7.00 zero potential, pH 4.00 or 10.00 span slope).

  • Nernstian Slope Efficiency: Typically $95\%$ to $105\%$ (approx. $54$ to $59\text{ mV}$ per pH unit at 25°C).

  • Response Time: Reaches $95\%$ of final stable reading within 3 to 10 seconds in active bypass flow.

  • Connector Type: Molded CONX circular multi-pin connector (water-tight quick-disconnect locking collar).

  • Cable Length: Standard 10-foot (approx. 3.0 m) lead (optional 20-foot or 30-foot extended runs available for remote enclosure routing).

  • Operating Temperature Range: 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C).

  • Maximum Operating Pressure: 50 PSI (approx. 3.45 bar) in commercial flow cell manifolds.

  • Process Mounting Fitting: Standard 1/2" NPT or 3/4" NPT threaded body / compression gland mount (compatible with Pool Link 500 Series, Legacy chambers, and standard commercial flow manifolds).

Handling & Storage Protocols

  • Hydration Requirement: The sensor tip must remain continuously hydrated. When removed from the sample flow cell, always seal the probe inside the storage boot filled with 4.0 M KCl buffer (or pH 7.00 buffer in a temporary pinch). Never store the probe in distilled or deionized water, as pure water rapidly leaches the reference ions through the porous liquid junction.

  • Cleaning Procedure: Mineral scaling or calcium deposits should be removed by soaking the glass bulb in a dilute acid solution (5% to 10% hydrochloric acid or household white vinegar) for 5 to 10 minutes, followed by a thorough rinse with clean tap water before recalibration.
