The Mer-Made 24" Round, Zipper Closure (Paddock Replacement) — Leaf Only (also cataloged as the Bare Core, Skeleton Disc, or Circular Frame Assembly) includes the fully assembled rigid drainage disc and bottom discharge spud, excluding the zippered fabric filter bag and felt compression sealing collar.

This configuration is engineered for circular vacuum DE tanks and surge pits retrofitting legacy Paddock Pool Equipment systems. It is specified when existing zippered cloth jackets are being reused or sourced from bulk stock, or when replacing cracked, warped, or structurally compromised internal discs in the filter bank.

Structural Design & Internal Core

• Radial Drainage Matrix: High-density open-matrix structural core featuring molded radial ribs that direct clean effluent from the outer circumference straight to the bottom discharge hub. The internal matrix resists compressive vacuum collapse under heads up to 15" Hg.

• Molded Perimeter Rim: Rigid outer boundary channel engineered to provide continuous support along the 24" circumference, preventing the frame from warping into an oval under suction or hydraulic tank turbulence.

• Integrated Bottom Hub: Molded discharge spud permanently solvent- or thermo-welded to the lower rim. Incorporates a raised locating shoulder that sets the seating depth into Paddock collection manifolds and ensures proper compression on the felt collar.

Field Clothing & Installation Steps

1. Core Surface Inspection: Inspect both faces of the drainage matrix and the outer circular rim for plastic burrs, sharp molding flash, or hairline fractures that could snag or puncture a replacement fabric bag.

2. Sleeving the Core: Unzip the replacement circular jacket fully. Slip the bottom cutout of the jacket over the protruding discharge hub until seated flush against the molded shoulder.

3. Closing the Zipper: Work the two halves of the fabric envelope around the outer circular rim, pulling the material evenly to eliminate bunching. Zip the slider completely around the 24" circumference and tuck the pull-tab underneath the protective fabric flap.

4. Collar Installation & Seating: Slide a new felt compression collar over the bottom outlet spud. Guide the stem vertically into the Paddock manifold receiver socket, applying downward pressure to compress the felt. Secure the overhead hold-down or circular leaf spacers to lock the bank in alignment.
