The Mer-Made 24" × 45" Center Bottom Outlet — Cover Only (cataloged under Part # 775-COVER / VFC-2445-CBO) is the tailored replacement synthetic fabric filter jacket envelope designed to re-cover existing bare leaf cores in deep commercial vacuum DE vaults, municipal competition natatoriums, water parks, and high-load surge-tank filtration systems.

This model is engineered for tall, narrow-profile frames measuring 24" wide horizontally along the base by 45" high vertically, featuring a factory-reinforced circular cutout collar centered along the bottom 24" horizontal rail. It supplies only the tailored synthetic filtration cloth, centered bottom discharge opening, top closure system, and paired replacement compression sealing gaskets. It is specified when the internal polypropylene drainage grid core and rigid PVC/CPVC border framing remain structurally sound, but the existing fabric has blinded from mineral scaling, calcified DE, or body oils, or has suffered physical tears from repeated backwash cycles.

Field Re-Covering & Tensioning Steps

1. Strip Old Jacket & Inspect Frame: Remove the spent leaf from the pit, open the top Velcro closure, and peel the spent cover off the frame. Discard the compressed felt collar. Pressure-wash the bare polypropylene drainage grid and inspect the full 45" vertical stiles and PVC borders for rough weld beads, flash, or cracks that could snag or cut the new fabric during sleeving.

2. Sleeve the Frame: Slide the replacement envelope down over the 45" height of the frame along the 24" width, guiding the reinforced center opening over the protruding center-bottom discharge spud.

3. Seat the Spud Collar: Stretch the reinforced collar cutout snugly around the base of the center hub until seated flush against the molded locating shoulder without bunching or twisting.

4. Tension & Seal: Pull the fabric upward evenly from both sides across the 24" × 45" face to eliminate wrinkles or bagging (loose fabric over a 45" height allows DE cakes to bridge, sag, and slough off under vacuum). Firmly press the Velcro closure flap closed across the 24" top rail to lock in uniform tension.

5. Mount Gasket: Slide a fresh high-density felt compression collar onto the center-bottom outlet spud against the locating shoulder before lowering the re-covered leaf back into the floor manifold receiver socket.
