The Mer-Made 30" × 36" Double Outlet (Neptune Benson Replacement) — Cover Only (cataloged as the Filter Cloth Bag, Septum Jacket, or Part # 775-COVER / VFC-3036-DO) is the replacement fabric envelope designed to re-cover existing bare leaf cores in compact commercial vacuum DE surge pits.

This configuration includes only the woven synthetic filtration envelope with dual precut bottom outlet cutouts and the closure mechanism (typically packaged with replacement felt compression collars). It is specified when the internal polypropylene drainage grid and outer PVC frame are structurally sound, but the existing fabric has blinded from mineral scaling/oils, torn, or stretched from backwash cycles.

Field Re-Covering & Tensioning Procedure

  1. Stripping Old Cover: Remove the spent leaf from the surge pit. Disengage the top closure, slide the worn cover off the core, and discard the degraded felt collars.

  2. Core Wash-Down & Inspection: Pressure-wash the bare internal grid core to eliminate calcified DE buildup. Check the PVC borders for hairline cracks or sharp burrs that could tear the new jacket.

  3. Sleeving the Frame: Slide the replacement cover over the top of the frame, pulling it down toward the dual bottom discharge hubs.

  4. Outlet Alignment: Carefully stretch the reinforced bottom cutout collars over each individual outlet spud until seated flush against the molded locating shoulders.

  5. Tensioning & Sealing: Pull the bag upward evenly from both sides to ensure tautness across the 36" span (loose fabric allows DE cakes to bridge and slough off under vacuum). Firmly seal the top Velcro closure flap.

  6. Collar Installation: Press new felt compression collars onto both outlet drop stems before reseating the leaf into the Neptune Benson vacuum manifold header.
