The Mer-Made 36" × 24" Edge Outlet (BIF Replacement) — Cover Only (cataloged under Part # 775-COVER / VFC-3624-EO) is the fabric filter jacket envelope designed to re-cover existing bare leaf cores in shallow-tank and low-headroom commercial vacuum DE filtration systems utilizing legacy BIF (Builders Iron Foundry / B-I-F Industries) side-header manifolds.

This configuration includes only the woven synthetic filtration cloth, factory-stitched perimeter seams, reinforced vertical edge cutout for the side-discharge hub, top closure system, and paired replacement compression sealing gaskets. It is specified when the internal drainage core and rigid PVC/CPVC framing remain structurally sound, but the fabric has blinded from mineral scaling/oils, torn, or stretched from backwash cycles.

Field Re-Covering & Installation Guidelines

  1. Verify Handing & Port Elevation: Before fitting, confirm whether the frame uses a left-hand or right-hand edge outlet so the reinforced cutout aligns directly with the side-discharge spud.

  2. Core Wash-Down & Inspection: Pressure-wash the bare polypropylene drainage grid to remove calcified DE residue. Check the PVC borders for rough weld beads, sharp edges, or cracks that could puncture the new fabric.

  3. Sleeving the Frame: Slide the replacement cover down over the frame, aligning the edge opening around the protruding side outlet hub.

  4. Seating the Cutout: Pull the reinforced edge collar cutout snugly around the base of the outlet hub so it sits flush against the locating stop shoulder without bunching.

  5. Tensioning & Closure: Pull the bag taut across the 36" × 24" face from both sides to eliminate sagging or wrinkles (loose fabric leads to uneven pre-coat cakes and cracking under suction). Firmly seal the top Velcro closure flap across the upper rail.

  6. Mount Gasket: Slide the new compression gasket or felt collar over the edge spud before sliding the assembly horizontally into the BIF side collection manifold socket.
