The Mer-Made 39" × 50" Corner Outlet Complete Vacuum DE Filter Leaf Assembly is an engineered commercial drop-in replacement designed specifically for legacy Keene-Bowser (Bowser-Briggs / Keene Corporation) vacuum DE systems with corner-pickup manifold configurations.
While the bottom-outlet variant drops effluent through a center- or offset-mounted stem along the bottom rail, the Corner Outlet geometry routes the discharge spud directly through the bottom corner junction (where the 39" horizontal bottom rail meets the 50" vertical side rail). This matches Keene-Bowser vaults where the vacuum manifold header runs along the trench edge or corner wall of the pit.

Structural Architecture & Construction Details
-
Asymmetric Flow Drainage Matrix: A heavy-gauge polypropylene or ABS drainage core engineered to route clean effluent diagonally across the 39" × 50" span down toward the corner drainage hub. It prevents negative vacuum collapse (up to 15" Hg) and avoids dead zones in the far upper quadrant.
-
Reinforced Perimeter Framing: Extruded rigid CPVC/PVC borders with hot-gas- or solvent-welded mitered corners. The corner housing the discharge hub is reinforced with internal gussets to withstand cantilever torque and bending moments exerted by the corner socket engagement during pump startup.
-
Gusseted Corner Outlet Hub: Heavy-wall molded PVC discharge spud welded directly into the corner intersection. Features a molded locating stop shoulder that sets the seating depth into the Keene-Bowser receiver bushing and establishes uniform compression on the felt collar.
-
Factory-Fitted Septum Jacket: Rot- and chlorine-resistant woven monofilament or multifilament polypropylene fabric bag (calibrated for 20–30 micron DE retention). Incorporates a reinforced corner cutout collar and a heavy-duty commercial top closure flap.
Physical Dimensions & Weight Estimates
-
Individual Complete Leaf Net Weight: Approximately 20.0 to 24.0 lbs (9.1 to 10.9 kg).
-
Single Boxed Leaf Shipping Weight: Approximately 29.0 to 35.0 lbs (13.2 to 15.9 kg) in heavy-duty oversized corrugated cartons with edge guards.
-
Commercial Grid Lot (10 to 20 Leaves): Approximately 330 to 530 lbs (150 to 240 kg) freight-strapped to an oversized 44" × 56" wooden pallet.
Field Installation & Seating Guidelines
-
Verify Handing Before Staging: Confirm whether the bank requires left-hand or right-hand corner drop stems. Attempting to reverse a corner-outlet leaf in the field will orient the cloth closure or face in reverse against adjacent frame spacing.
-
Clean Corner Header Sockets: Thoroughly clear calcified DE, sand, and scale out of the Keene-Bowser manifold corner receiver bushings along the pit wall.
-
Mount Felt Collar: Slide a new high-density felt compression collar over the corner spud, seating it flush against the molded locating shoulder.
-
Insertion & Seating: Lower the leaf vertically into the vault. Guide the corner spud squarely into the receiver socket first, then settle the opposite bottom frame corner onto the floor guide channel. Press down firmly to compress the felt collar.
-
Secure Overhead Tie-Down: Engage the top frame rail into the overhead structural hold-down channel lined with hold-down rubber, and torque the tie-down rods evenly to lock the leaf bank in place.
