The Pool Link 500 Series Turbidity Flow Cell is a specialized, optical-grade bypass sampling manifold designed specifically to isolate and house nephelometric turbidity probes for commercial swimming pools, competitive natatoriums, waterparks, and municipal aquatic facilities. Because optical turbidity sensing relies on detecting 90-degree scattered light, this cell is engineered to prevent internal optical reflection, bubble interference, and hydraulic turbulence that could otherwise produce false Nephelometric Turbidity Unit (NTU) spikes.
System Overview & Hardware Architecture
Engineered for continuous water clarity compliance and automated filter monitoring:
-
Specialized Optical Sampling Well: Features a bored sampling cavity dimensioned to accommodate submersible optical nephelometric turbidity sensors. The chamber geometry eliminates ambient light bounce and positions the optics away from chamber walls to prevent surface scatter interference.
-
Integrated Air-Bubble Purge Architecture: Designed with internal hydraulic pathways that naturally channel entrained micro-bubbles up and away from the optical path, preventing microscopic bubbles from being misread as suspended particulates.
-
Cast Acrylic Construction: Machined from high-grade, chemical-resistant cast acrylic with polished optical sight areas, allowing operators to visually confirm sample clarity and optical cleanliness without taking the cell off-line.
-
Precision Inlet Needle Valve: Fine-threaded, chemical-resistant metering valve on the inlet port that regulates flow velocity, ensuring a gentle, laminar stream across the optical face to prevent cavitation.
-
Manual Calibration Petcock: Integrated low-pressure sample valve positioned directly at the measurement chamber, allowing operators to draw representative pool water for benchtop turbidimeter or photometer calibration checks.
Technical Specifications
-
-
Sensor Compatibility: Sized for standard commercial nephelometric turbidity probes (typically 3/4" NPT or proprietary threaded/gland collar mounts).
-
Turbidity Measurement Band: Optimized for stable optical measurement across 0.00 to 10.00 NTU (compatible with regulatory clarity compliance monitoring).
-
Hydraulic Operating Limits:
-
Maximum Working Pressure: 50 PSI (approx. 3.45 bar).
-
Recommended Bypass Flow Rate: 0.25 to 1.0 GPM (approx. 1.0 to 3.8 LPM) to maintain laminar flow and avoid bubble generation.
-
Operating Water Temperature: 32°F to 120°F (0°C to 49°C).
-
-
Plumbing Connections: Standard 1/4" NPT female inlet and outlet ports, pre-fitted with 3/8" OD compression fittings for flexible polyethylene tubing.
-
Mounting Configuration: Rear-tapped threaded holes for direct integration onto an equipment panel, backboard, or wall strut.
