SEAL PLATE

Hayward Seal Plate is a critical internal component used in many Hayward pool pumps (e.g. Super Pump, Max‑Flo, TriStar/EcoStar, etc.). It serves as the structural and sealing interface between the pump’s motor and the wet‑end housing.

When properly installed, the seal plate supports the mechanical (shaft) seal, ensures alignment of the impeller and diffuser, and helps maintain a watertight barrier that prevents water from leaking into the motor compartment. It keeps the pump’s “wet end” (where water and pressure live) separated from the “dry end” (motor/shaft), reducing the risk of leaks, maintaining pump prime, and protecting internal components from chemical or water damage. If the seal plate becomes cracked, warped, or otherwise damaged, it can cause leaks, reduce efficiency, or lead to premature seal failure — so ensuring the plate is in good condition is important for pump longevity.
