The Spectrum Aquatics Traveler BP 500 – 316L (Part #140290) is the premium marine-grade, heavy-duty commercial pool lift configured specifically for aggressive aquatic environments. It retains all core performance capabilities of the standard Traveler BP 500 while upgrading all structural stainless steel fabrication to Type 316L (low-carbon) stainless steel.

Key Environmental & Metallurgical Distinction

Standard commercial pool lifts utilize 304/304L stainless steel, which performs well in outdoor freshwater pools with regular rinse cycles. However, indoor natatoriums with poor airflow, elevated chloramine gas buildup, and saltwater chlorine generator pools accelerate pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC).

• Molybdenum Enrichment: 316L stainless steel contains 2.0% to 3.0% molybdenum and higher nickel content, dramatically elevating its resistance to localized pitting and crevice corrosion caused by chloride ions.

• Low Carbon Chemistry: The "L" grade limits carbon to less than 0.03%, preventing chromium carbide precipitation during welding and protecting structural joints against intergranular corrosion.

• Electropolished & Passivated: Finished with a factory electropolish and an application of proprietary Spectra Shield® coating, creating a chromium-rich passive surface layer.
